Easter Preparations

This weekend we visited the Easter Bunny at the mall. Notice how I am in the picture and Alex looks royally ticked? Both kids were so excited to go see him, even in line Alex kept waving at him and saying, "Hi Bunny!" and kept trying to get to the front of the line. Finally the time comes. Aurora goes right up to him and hops on his lap. Alex? Not so much. He immediately turned with a "NO WAY" look on his face and grabbed my leg. No amount of convincing would get him NEAR the Easter Bunny. So finally I sat down and he sat on my lap but as you can see, he still was not happy! So we get the picture and go to the register to pay for the picture, and guess what Alex is doing? Waving enthusiastically at the Easter Bunny saying, "Bye Bunny!!"

This evening, while I was uploading this picture, Aurora told me that the Easter Bunny at the mall was NOT real! Apparently she saw his arm - whoops!

We also decorated the house for Easter! Here are some pictures of the kids putting out decorations and setting up the Easter tree. The last picture is my well-trained children giving me a nice big "CHEESE!"

Grandma and Grandpa's House

The kids and I spent Sunday afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa K's house. They played and played and we had dinner there. A few shots from the day:

Alex loves to look out from their backyard, it's a fantastic view!

Playing with bubbles and the water fountain

And the day wouldn't be complete without a little temper tantrum!

Lots of Cuteness

We had lots of cuteness around here this weekend! First, Aurora was talking to her Grandma on the phone, who was talking about a wedding she went to that afternoon. During the conversation, Grandma made a comment about something that happened when she and Grandpa got married. After they got off the phone, Aurora burst out in tears. When I asked her what was wrong, she sobbed, "I thought I was gonna marry Grandpa!"

Then, I was eating breakfast with the kids and Alex got down from his chair and came over to give me a hug. I hugged him and said, "I love you!" And he said it back for the first time!! Those four magic words every Mom lives for - "I lub ewe Mama!"

Alex has also become obsessed with Buzz, from Toy Story. He has a Buzz action figure he carries around (who's missing a leg and I have no idea what happened) and he says over and over again, "To Infinity and Beyond!" (Well as close as he can say it anyway)!

And finally, here's a little video of the kids blowing bubbles:

When I Grow Up

Aurora told me yesterday that when she grows up she wants to be a teacher. This is the first time she has actually thought about what she wants to do (other than, 'when I grow up I want to stay up all night and eat whatever I want...") so I wanted to document it on their blog. I asked her if she wanted to teach little kids, big kids, or grown-ups, and she said 'little kids'. She seemed very serious about it too! I told her that was a great thing to be when you grow up and since she is such a good big sister and teaches Alex all of the time, she will make a great one! :-)

One Smart Cookie

Aurora and I had the following conversations today:

(While watching Ice Age 2):

Alex: A lion! (Pointing to Diego)

Me: Yeah, a lion!

Aurora: Mom, that is not a lion, that is a tiger

Me: But it doesn't have any stripes!

Aurora: (while rolling her eyes) Duh, it's the kind without stripes

(While discussing how she does not stay in her room at night)

Me: So you don't get any special things until you can stay in your room at night - no TV, no soda, no candy, etc. because those are for big kids that can sleep in their beds

Aurora: Does Alex get candy?

Me: Yes, he stays in his bed all night

Aurora: That's because he has a crib that has 4 sides
