Halloween!

The kids had a great Halloween this year! Alex was Buzz Lightyear (as if there were any doubt) and Aurora was a Jester like her daddy!

The day started with Grandma S. coming over and presenting them with "Best Costume" awards and their first bit of candy! Then we got the kids dressed up and went to Aurora's Hip Hip class, where she performed "Thriller" for us! She did a great job and was so proud of herself. I am proud of her too! Here's the video:

In the afternoon we dressed the kids up again and went to see Grandma and Grandpa K. and Auntie Charissa. By the time all of this was done their buckets were already full!

We ran home to empty the buckets and then we joined Megan and the boys for Trick or Treating! We roamed the streets with Buzz, two jesters, a rat, and a skunk! The kids were so cute - Alex would keep saying "Trick or Treat!" from the time they opened the door until he got his candy. Then they both would say "Thank you" at the end. Alex lasted about an hour before he started getting tired so we went back to the house while the others did a bit more. He had just as much fun handing out candy as he did getting it! And he was very generous too - he gave out huge handfuls!

Aurora came back with even more candy and was very pleased. We got home, handed out a bit more candy, and then everyone crashed for the night!

Hip Hop!

Aurora has always loved dancing, from the time she was just learning to stand! Any time we would put music on she would move and groove. Most evenings at home you will see us with music on dancing around or doing some sort of activity involving it.

The past year or so Aurora has been making up her own moves and doing "break-dancing" and attempting flips and such. She is also totally into "So You Think You Can Dance". Her favorite artists are Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas. She's my little hip hop girl!

So it seemed only natural to sign her up for Hip Hop class!! I signed her up at a local dance school for Saturday mornings. Yesterday was her first class. She was nervous at first but she LOVED it! She really had fun and learned some cool moves. They even played several of her favorite songs. She can't wait to go back next week. Here are some pics and video. They are not very good quality because we have to watch the class from a 'viewing room'.

Dance Fever

One of the kids' favorite things to do after dinner is to turn on music and dance. It is so cute to see them dancing and it burns energy too! Alex is my 80's guy, he loves 80's songs, especially "Never" by Heart...as soon as he hears it he gets exciting and starts rockin'! Aurora is my hip hop girl. She loves R&B and Hip Hop...when she was 3 she was singing all of the words to 'Temperature" by Sean Paul. In the past, every time I've turned my camera on the kids would stop what they were doing..but last night and tonight I finally got some good footage! The first video is Alex "breakdancing", the second one is Aurora trying to do the "Electric Slide", and the third one is both of them dancing together. And in case you are wondering, the cage-like thing in the background is for the kids to play with their pet rat without her getting loose! Enjoy!
