We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year! I haven't mentioned it here, but Grandma and Grandpa S (my parents) got a divorce this year, so Grandma S joined us at Josh's parents' on Thanksgiving Day. We were also fortunate to have my brother, Derrek, here this year! This is the first time in 3 years that he has been around for the holidays!
The kids had a blast wrestling with their Auntie and uncles all afternoon. We watched some movies and looked at Black Friday ads. We also had wine, good food, and good company! It was a wonderful day!

Thanksgiving Weekend 2010
Thanksgiving weekend was fun and relaxing this year! On Thursday morning, we had Grandma and Grandpa S over for a big brunch. We set a pretty table and made the food while the kids wrestled with Grandpa and played games with Grandma.
In the afternoon, we went to Auntie's house to have Thanksgiving dinner with the K side of the family. The kids decorated Auntie's tree while we were there and we had wine and good food!
Friday we decorated the house for Christmas! The kids have their own little tree they got to decorate and they helped with the family tree. We also set out all our other decorations and even wrapped some presents to put out! Note the stockings for the kitties and the tiny little stocking for Freddie the Ferret. That night we had movie night and watched 'The Karate Kid.'
On Saturday we did some Christmas shopping and some Christmas crafts, including these ornaments that Aurora made for each one of our pets. We also watched 'Elf.' Love that movie! When it got dark, we loaded the kids up in their jammies and drove around to look at Christmas lights. Then we topped the night off with some hot cocoa!
Sunday we went to the Natural History Museum, which was free for our county in November. It was kind of a bust because half of the exhibits were closed or broken...but at least we didn't have to pay! Then th rest of the day we just relaxed and then prepared for the week! Overall it was a nice break and some quality family time!

Thanksgiving Weekend
We had a wonderful four day weekend for Thanksgiving! On Thursday we hosted both familes at our house for Thansgiving dinner. The dinner turned out great and everyone had fun hanging out, watching football and playing with the kids! At dinner we took turns saying what we were Thankful for. Alex said he was thankful for "everybody" and "eating". Aurora said she was thankful for "Thanksgiving!"

Thursday afternoon Alex started not feeling well. He started non-stop coughing - couldn't even talk without coughing. Then he came down with a fever. He coughed all night long Thursday night and was miserable on Friday. So Friday we just laid around the house and I took him to the doctor that afternoon - double ear infection, tonsilitis, and a respiratory infection! His fever got up to 103 at the doctor's office. We left with prescriptions for antibiotics and nebulizer treatments.

We took it easy on Saturday as well and after several nebulizer treatments Alex was clearly feeling better, and his fever broke. So we did some Christmas crafts and wrote their letters to Santa.

On Sunday, my best friend Megan came over and we had a fun-filled day of decorating for Christmas, wrapping presents, and baking sugar cookies! Alex and Aurora enjoyed decorating the trees - we have a family one and they have one of their own (so they can play with theirs and leave the family one alone!) They also enjoyed pulling out all the Christmas books and movies. At naptime Megan and I wrapped presents - it took us three hours! There are lots of presents under the tree already. I only have a few more to pick up.

Thanksgiving #2
Yesterday we had Thanksgiving with my parents and decorated for Christmas. We had a great time. Alex was a little grumpy towards the end but not too bad. The kids get their own little Christmas tree so that they can play with it and pull off ornaments or whatever and not mess with the big tree. Conveniently this works for the cats too! Aurora is all into the mistletoe this year; I hang it in the doorway to the bedrooms and every time we pass through it she insists on her kiss! Anyway we had good food and it was nice for all of us to get together; I actually don't see my parents much even though they only live 10 minutes away.

Thanksgiving #1
Happy Thanksgiving! We had a pretty good Thanksgiving. We went to Josh's parents house and they had friends in from out of town. Alex got very frustrated at times with his inability to do certain things and with all of the people around, but overall he did the best he could. We had good food and yummy desserts. Stay tuned for Thanksgiving #2 with my parents on Tuesday (they work on the actual Thanksgiving)!
