This weekend we went to White Sands National Monument to attend the Star Party. It's an annual astronomy event that my husband usual attends by himself. This time Aurora and I went with him. It's the only time of the year they allow anyone to camp on the dunes. It was very cool!
On the first morning, we were the only ones up and watched the sun rise over the dunes. We also went to the NM Museum of Space History and the IMAX theater. But Aurora spent the majority of the time sledding down the dunes. We gave her a whistle (to call for help) and a glow stick and let her do her own thing. She sled day and night!

Having grown up in El Paso, we'd sometimes make it to White Sands, so this was fun to see! I haven't been there in YEARS, but it looks like you had a great time.
I didn't realize you live close enough to go to White Sands! That area almost feels like 'home' to me since I lived there for 8 yrs! Yeah it was fun to go sledding and not get wet and cold from the snow :)
Oh wow! How fun is that??? It looks like such a fun way to spend a weekend and what a great learning experience :)
ps thanks so much for answering my healthcare post!
What a neat idea to give Aurora some independence! Good job! And it looks like a cool family tradition going on here!
